If you have had a faulty memory occasionally or even often, you're not alone. Many people do. Perhaps you have driven home from the store, only to remember something that you should've gotten but didn't. Or perhaps you've forgotten important dates, such as anniversaries or birthdays.

It's at that point that you realise another year has gone by and you have totally fogotten your anniversary again. If you have had this experience before then it's time for you to look at making an improvement to your memory. By following a few easy training techniques it will be easy for you to make a dramatic improvement to your memory and never have to worry again about forgetting things.

There are several different categories for your memory. These include remembering dates and events, names and faces, factual information and lists. In each of these areas there are different techniques and tools that you can use for your memory improvement.

If you are a person that always is forgetting names, there are a variety of things you can do to help yourself remember. Many people use a common trick by associating some type of rhyme with the person's name. When you are first introduced to someone new, it is a great idea to make sure that you immediately repeat their name a couple times while you are speaking to that person. This helps you get it into your short term memory before you forget it altogether.

Of course you'll probably want to make sure you get it into your long term memory as well, which is where the rhyme comes in. If the person's name is Nate, think about Nate the great, and each time you see that person, make sure that you repeat the little rhyme again to yourself. The more you do this, the more you'll be able to lock it right into your long term memory so you won't forget it. So, this is one great way to help you out with memory improvement.

You can also use the rhyme you choose to associate that person's name (or the rhyme itself) with that person's appearance. For example, if Tony has a long mane of hair, this means that he can be associated with a "pony" in that way. This will help you recognize the person you meet in the future so that you know his or her name on the spot.

Another common technique for the improvement of your memory when it comes to lists is to make a word a saying/sentence or just remember the first letters of the list. By doing this it will help to jog your memory to exactly what was on the list. For example if you had to go to the shop and remember 5 items you could do it like follows.

Lollipops Bread Chocolate Apples Ketchup

Have a look at your list and in this case we can re-arrange it to be.

B read
L ollies
A pples
C hocolate
K etchup

Now you can see that the first letters in the list spell the word, "Black." All you have to remember when you go shopping is the word "Black," and you'll be able to easily remember the things that are on your list, since they start with the letters of this word.

This is a relatively easy way to improve your memory, and that and the other techniques we've discussed will help give you a good memory in almost no time. All it takes is a little practice.
